When looking to purchase a PC projector you have a few things to consider, not just the price.

Most pc projector buyers get stuck on price before any other consideration. You have a lot more to think about than that. What about portability? Are you going to get a 30 pound projector to lug around if you’re flying here and there on business every week? I didn’t think so. What about reliability or ruggedness? And one very often overlooked issue is if you’re going to be doing presentations in a setting with more ambient light. If it isn’t going to be very dark, you better get a pc projector that is very bright, or your presentations won’t look very good. And if it is going to be very dark, and you have dark images, you need one with a high contrast ratio so the darks in your images don’t get lost and show good detail.

The first pictured five hundred dollar unit is from In Focus. It’s called the Work Big IN2102EP Projector. It is a very bright 2500 lumens and boasts a contrast ratio of 2000 to 1. You kind of get it all here for a pretty decent price. Even better, it is very well reviewed by those that use it, averaging 4.5 out of 5 stars. Outstanding by anyone’s measure. It is dust free so keeping it working properly is a breeze.

Next is the InFocus X6 DLP Projector. This is a large and powerful projector. It’s meant for home theater type situations or as a stationary projector in a meeting room. It is portable enough if needed to go from room to room, but you won’t be lugging it onto a plane with you. It’ll blast out at 2000 lumens at a contrast ratio of two thousand to one. It too has a filterless design with a DLP chipset, featuring SVGA and XGA chipsets, with SVideo hookups. A nice unit.

And then there’s the Epson PowerLite 83c LCD Projector (V11H255020). It’s about $1100 but is very highly reviewed. It has an RJ45 connector to be monitored and powered over a network. A decent, built-in, 7w speaker should work very well for audio in most situations. It’s bright at 2200 lumens and is only twelve pounds. It has a pretty good zoom lens and a 4000 hour lamp. Since replacement lamps are pricey, this is a pretty situation.

Epson S6 Powerlite 2200 Lumens SVGA Multimedia Projector – last one comes in at just over $500 over at amazon.com. Reviewed at 4.5 stars out of 5 so you should be happy with it. As the model name states, it’s 2200 lumens so it’ll be pretty bright if it is light or dark during your presentation with this pc projector. A very nice feature here is plug and play connectivity with USB. Nice when you’re on the go and rushing at the last minute to get things going. A great unit at a good price.

Ok, glad you stopped in for some pc projector information? Yeah, we thought so. :) Now think hard one last time before you buy your pc projector and you’ll be happy you thought it through.
